Data: How do you understand the data from your smart watch or device? What is it used for? How can you implement training to enhance performance?

There are a lot of data blocks and measurements to sift through. Most notably Heart Rate Data (HR) and Sleep data. There key blocks are used in a variety of ways to show your level of fitness, amount of recovery needed, and how your body runs. These metrics are ongoing and continuous. The larger amount of time wearing your device will give you larger data groups which allow the creation of organized physical activity (plans) to reach your ultimate goal. These can be targeted by understanding how you can make the data your receiving work for you and take the chore out of your training plan producing and optimizing your daily schedule and time.

REST DAYS:

When should you take a rest day? Generally speaking, rest days should be taken when the body is overloaded. When your body is overloaded that could be combination of different things- amount of water or hydration/food/calories/stress/sleep/previous workouts… all of these can wear on the body. With all the accumulation feeling sluggish and achy makes it difficult to produce the motivation to put your shoes on and head out to run. I have battled this over the years and have many solutions that work for me and one of the those specificly is a REST DAY. I define rest day as doing something other than running. I will mow the grass, do yoga, walk a trail, or something physical not centered around running. Some call this a active recovery day but all to say its a block period of time to allow your mind to do something different in order to avoid a potiential BURN OUT. Just remember if running is a chore- its time for some active recovery/rest days.
